Irene Palaiologos, daughter of the Byzantine Emperor, brought young olives trees from Constantinople and planted them in Lakonia, at the southern tip of the Balkans. Thus was born the rare variety Athinoelia, named in honor of goddess Athena, symbol of fertility and Prosperity. 

These olive trees still flourish, offering today and extra virgin olive oil of exceptional taste, history, and tradition.
